Carter Introduces Military Spouses Employment Act

Press Release

Date: May 7, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Representative John Carter (TX-31) introduced the Military Spouses Employment Act today, in recognition of Military Spouse Appreciation Day of 2021.

"The Military Spouses Employment Act will incentivize employers to hire military spouses through an income tax credit," Representative Carter said. "Unfortunately, statistics show that military spouses tend to earn less than their civilian counterparts due to the unique set of circumstances that come from being a military spouse, so this bill is crucial to level the playing field.

"Too often, well-qualified and well-educated military spouses are overlooked due to the possibility of relocation and other circumstances that come with the military. It's time we ensure an equal shot for military family members to earn quality employment."
